(qi) Gibril Zwicker has begun his new post as head of the Department for Event Organization. He had been appointed to the board on 23 October, 2011. Since then, it has been a productive year in the Department. Zwicker was instrumental in organizing the annual conference in Biel at the end of February last year, as well as on the “Day against Islamophobia and Racism” which took place in October of this year.
Department for the Coordination of Islamic Institutions
The General Assembly of 22 May 2010 created the Department for the Coordination of Islamic Institutions. The Department was created to provide the Shura Council, a permanent board seat. Until recently, the department had not filled any posts and as a result was dormant in its activities. Mr. Osman Mohammed Ali has now been appointed as the director for the new department which represents the interests of the Islamic institutions on the board. It acts as a link between the Muslim-oriented General Assembly and the Majlis ash-Shura. Ali will pursue a probationary phase as director and, in the near future, represent the integrative goals of the ICCS and develop and consolidate the structures of the existing Majlis ash-Shura further.
Chief of Staff for Public Diplomacy resigns
Oscar Bergamin AM has announced his resignation from his current post. Bergamin has confirmed that his resignation has come at a point of his life whereby he would like to “readjust professionally and personally."
