islam_unity_front_flyer(qi) For the first time in Switzerland, on February 25, 2012, the Islamic Central Council is hosting "Islam Unity", an innovative event aimed at Islamic community building on a massive scale. The event, led by a line-up of world-renowned speakers, Qur’an reciters and Nasheed artists, will be held in a spacious hall in the city of Bulach. The organizers are expecting up to 1,800 attendees.

Big names from the Islamic World

The famous preacher from Kuwait, Dr. Nabil Al-Awadi will be in attendance. Alongside his work in the Ministry of Religious Affairs, he regularly speaks on famous Islamic TV channels such as Iqra, Al-Watan and MBC. Also in the line-up, from Kosovo is Irfan Salihu. He is a profound scholar in the Balkans most famous for his knowledge on Hadith studies. In addition, Abdul Adhim Kammous is a lively speaker in Germany and an important unifying figure for Muslims in Berlin. He preaches at various mosques and frequently appears at educational seminars. British speaker Abdur Raheem Green is best known across the UK, US and India for his articulate and dynamic speeches. Kamal Uddin, also from the UK, is a popular nasheed artist and also performing on the day is Fekri Shala a popular artist from Kosovo. Aziz Alili and Nedzad Rakovic are known for their emotional recitations of the Quran. 

Youth Competition on a Political Issue: Prize money - 2000 CHF

16-25-year-olds are invited to ponder about their Islamic view-point on nuclear power. The organizers are looking for a well-formulated answer on the question: Nuclear power plants, Yes or No; how green is Islam really? The answer must be written independently in German and be between 100-300 words and the completed response emailed to:  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . A panel of judges will select four of the top answers. The four competitors will be invited to debate on the same question at the Islam Unity event. Here, they will represent their views as credibly as possible. The audience will then chose the debate winner via sms on the night. The prize money will be awarded in cash on the spot. Closing date for entries is Monday, 06 February 2012.
