The program "Club" on the TV channel SF1 yesterday evening dealt with the question recently raised if there was a need for a Burqa-ban. With our chief of the Department for women affaires for the first time a Swiss Muslim directly concerned by the question spoke out on SF1. Under the moderation of Christine Maier discussed in Swiss German:

(qi) The prominent islamic studies scholar Reinhard Schulze from Bern talked today in the DRS radio program "The Talk of the Day" about the subject "burqa ban". When asked whether he had ever seen a woman in a burqa, he enumerated devoutly to European countries where he has never ever seen a burqa-wearer striding across the road - Switzerland was of course one of them. In fact, it is assumed that in the whole Helvetic Republic there lives not a single burqa wearer. If so, then you come to meet the Arabic version of the face veil, the niqab, which, besides few exceptions, mainly tourists and parts of the embassy staff from the Arabian Gulf are wearing.

Even if one would allow us: Stoning has no place here! |
(qi) ICCS President, Nicolas Blancho was yesterday evening in the TV show Infrarouge on TSR1 (Télevision Suisse Romande 1). In contrast to the hectic Arena of SF1 (Schweizer Fernsehen1), all participants succeeded in presenting their views objectively and in more civilized manner. Blancho defended the vision - not demand ! - that there will be in future also in Switzerland Islamic schools. He stated at the same time clearly that these schools did not go to the expense of taxpayers, but should be borne by the Muslims themselves.
Furthermore it is not yet about specific projects, but abstract ideas, which need further discussion.

Heute Abend widmet sich die Arena auf SF1 zum ersten Mal seit der Nachbesprechung der Minarettabstimmung wieder dem Thema Islam. Im Zentrum der Diskussion steht der Ende Oktober 2009 gegründete Islamische Zentralrat Schweiz (IZRS). Diverse Medienberichte der letzten Wochen suggerierten, dass es sich dabei um das „radikale Produkt“ der Minarett-Initiative handelt. Es scheint beinahe, als wünschte man sich eine Radikalisierung Schweizer Muslime herbei, um dann mit dem Finger auf die Initianten zu zeigen. Gestern Abend debattierten unter anderem zwei Mitglieder des Islamischen Zentralrats Schweiz (IZRS) im Club mit Christine Maier auf SF1 über die zugespitzte Frage, wie gefährlich "Fundamentalisten" in der Schweiz seien.
