(qi) The Islamic Central Council of Switzerland (ICCS) welcomes the decision of the Education Council of Schaffhausen of the 7th April 2010, under which the wearing of headscarves by Muslim schoolgirls in public schools should also in the future not be limited.
In the past, we repeatedly received reports of newly adopted bans on the level of school regulations. Also we are aware of cases of attempts to exert pressure on Muslim schoolgirls by the teachers.
In this sense the decision is one that goes in the right direction. We emphasize strongly that the headscarf issue is a question of freedom of worship that can not to be negotiated on municipal or cantonal level.
